Hokuto Katsui and Nao Yagi returned to Japan after graduating from London’s Central Saint Martins and launched Mintdesigns in 2001. Clothing by Mintdesigns features bold, rich hues and makes use of graphic textiles with unique motifs. The brand has acquired a large fan base and was recipient of the 28th Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix. In recent years Mintdesigns has participated in Milano Salone and presented work in Taipei, Fukuoka and other domestic and overseas exhibitions. The brand has attracted much attention even outside of fashion and has been involved in collaborations across various industries and genres, working with items such as furniture and Japanese sweets.
This exhibition presents the world view of Mintdesigns, a brand that has been expanding the arena of fashion design and continues to demonstrate the appeal of design. Over the three gallery spaces you can experience the charm of Mintdesigns and their “wearable graphics.”
