Shigeo Toya “Sculpture to Emerge”

Musashino Art University Museum & Library
Finished

Artists

Shigeo Toya
Shigeo Toya’s works, created through his consideration of the roots of sculpture, invite us to think deeply about the universe that sculpture creates. Sculptures’ surfaces, in which something seems to be wriggling in lower layers, present the boundaries between two territories, what can and cannot be seen, what appears and does not appear. This exhibition, which uses the entire gallery space, is centered on large-scale works in exploring the structures of sculpture and examining its sources in Toya’s thinking.
