Punctum
Gallery in The Nihonbashi, Kudanshita area
Punctum is a photographic gallery that was opened with the help of art director Masayoshi Nakajo (logo design), Shigeki Hattori of renowned designers group Graf (interior design) and editor and creative director Shigeo Goto (producing) under the concept of "expanding the possibilities of photography" to create a "transmission base of photography in Tokyo". The word punctum is taken from Roland Barthes' notion of the power of photography to "prick and bruise" the viewer, as mentioned in his book "Camera Lucida". The gallery seeks to provide an environment where young talents can present their works and meaningful debates about photography can occur.
