Museum in The Omotesando area

The building that now hosts the museum was used for more than 50 years by Taro Okamoto as his studio/house until 1996 when he passed away at the age of 84. The space is still charged with the energy that the artist emanated throughout his years of artistic endeavor. The building designed by Le Corbussier's student Junzo Sakakura; its distinguishing exterior is characterized by walls formed of piled up blocks and a convex lens shaped roof. The exhibition comprises sketches, sculptures and vast amounts of documents and materials used by the artist.
