A Lighthouse called Kanata
Gallery in The Roppongi, Nogizaka area
We will open a new and larger gallery space in Nishi-Azabu, Tokyo, just south of Omotesando and west of Roppongi. Kanata means “Beyond” or “Far Away”, a quintessentially Japanese ideal imbued by the two characters that comprise it, literally meaning “Towards” and “You.” Towards you, I wish to be, but you are far away, a yearning filled with romanticism and nuance. At Kanata, we will continue to introduce exceptional Japanese and international artists whose artworks define space itself. And why a lighthouse? The night is dark and full of shadows, and such is why our artists need this gallery more than ever. We will continue to shine a light at the vast ocean before us, hoping to serve as a beacon of hope for today’s artists and the artists of tomorrow. At our gallery, a new dawn rises. The light nears.
