Takashi Nakagawa "Border Line - Arizona Nevada"
This event has ended.
At Ginza Nikon Salon
Media: Photography
Nakagawa Takashi traveled across 12 states of the American continent with a large format camera. In one week he would drive around with a rental car and shoot his pictures. Each day he would travel on average 500 miles and use around 60 films. Changing the films in a simple hand size darkroom, he would draw the curious looks of passers-by. Every night he'd withdraw himself in a motel room, developing his daily pictures in the bathroom before hitting the bed...
It was a physically exhausting trip. But the artist both felt a sense of fulfillment and at the same time got confused: Do I like photography? Do I like traveling? Do I like to be on my own?
However, he was supported in his endeavour by the thought that his shots would allow people to travel freely without leaving Japan.
40 monochrome pieces will be on display.
