Ito, a self-confessed former pachinko addict, has been making installations using pachinko paraphernalia since 1994. Pachinko occupies a huge section of the Japanese economy, bringing in around 30 trillion yen every year, and its popularity has caused a plethora of social problems, which Ito deals with in his work.
