This series of lectures introduces an overview of the history of Japanese art in the postwar period. Examining various art movement starting with "Yoru-no-kai" (night group), "Jikken-kobo" (experimental studio), "Gutai-art-kyokai" (concrete art association) and more, this lecture series aims to look at the art scene from a wider social context. Music, film, economy, social movements, and philosophy -- these different social factors enable us to contextualize those art movements and to understand various perspectives.
