During the 60’s in Europe, print studio business started to form by making prints of other visual artists. The printmaker, Tokuzou Okabe, who passed away last year, was the first person who brought the European print studio style into Japan.

In 1964, he established a silkscreen print studio at Hatano-shi Kanagawa Prefecture. He started with poor tools and unstable quality, but was able to eventually meet artist demands after much trial and error. Eventually, this effort invented the original technique and new forms of expression.

This exhibition shows about 150 print works which were produced in Okabe's print studio, and are displayed in chronological order.
