"Searching for Mr. Olive" Exhibition
This event has ended.
Earlier this spring, the Tokyo based brand Mr. Olive began their second photo/ image book for their up coming fall/winter line. From the get go Olive has a very different out look and approach to their visual marketing. The vision was to create a book of still images that would focus more on the feeling or lifestyle behind the brand rather than the price of T-shirt. The first art book/collaboration was a 70 page documentary art book that was reminiscent of the Avant-garde scene of Max`s Kansas City New York in the late 70s. The book was extremely well received by both the fashion community as well as fans of the brand.
This time, they decided to put a little spin on the theme. Taking a slightly less direct approach than the last project, they decided to do a behind the scenes photo documentary of the "making" of a retro/indie film, "Searching for Mr. Olive". Because Olive was doing a fall/winter line based project they decided to shoot south of the equator in Australia. They teamed up with Melbourne based film director, Daniel Armstrong. Daniel along with a team of hand picked cast members were brought together to create and play out the making of the movie. After a week long on location shoot Mr. Olive had their new "Searching for Mr. Olive" film photo story. This 100 page "Searching for Mr. Olive" image book is compellingly fresh and humorously pop. Full size prints as well as limited edition t-shirts will be on sale at the gallery as well.
