Media: Installation, Video installation

The new works by Yasuyuki Komatsu in this exhibition consist of an unique video documentation of a group performance. He creates a video installation which invites viewers to his world. The surrounding strange scenes remind viewers of a chaotic battlefield, or some kind of an entertainment facility with horrible taste, or just an ordinary scene from our daily lives.

"Sorashirazu" is the name of the performance group who takes a large role in this piece. Including Komatsu himself, Sorashirazu consists of some regular members and others who join for each project. They have conducted a number of performance projects, which is apparent in his video installation. This Utopian identity that he has developed within the performance group starts to take over his identity as one person, turning into something complex and unrecognizable.
