Daisuke Nagaoka "Aimai na Niwa (Ambiguous Garden)"
This event has ended.
At hpgrp Gallery Tokyo
Media: Drawing, Sculpture, Art Party
Most of Daisuke Nagaoka's works are drawings consisting of overlapping lines. He has drawn animals, insects and forests in this detailed style that lies somewhere between the real and imaginative. The mysterious images express both the strength of control over one's world and the ephemeral nature of a moment that is just about to disappear into memory. 3D works inspired by the eusocial behavior of bees will also be on display in this exhibition. Worker bees' existence revolves around serving the queen bee. Their continuous flying around in a conceptual "ambiguous garden," to and fro searching for their place and the image they are meant to draw, has a similarity to the loyal act of stacking small particles repeatedly to create a mass.
