VANS Exhibition 2008
This event has ended.
At Lapnet Ship
Media: Product, Fashion
In 1966, Paul Van Doren and his three partners founded VANS. Its simple design and grip soles soon became a hit among skater circles, and the brand has since spread around the world starting from the skateboarding boom that erupted in 1976.
This exhibition focuses on the classic SK8-HI sneaker that has won the trust and vote of skaters worldwide. The shoes use waffle-pattern soles made through a tried and tested vulcanized handmade technique, well-cushioned pads that cleave to the ankle, and reinforced suede that holds up to the most demanding skate tricks. Also on display are various sneaker models that have supported the feet of skaters for over 30 years, including 30th anniversary revival models along with the newest models from this year, tracing the trajectory and changes of this dynamic brand. In addition, video footage of pro skaters like Tony Alva and Steve Caballero will be on view.
Also held at the venue is an "ID Competition", a sneaker color design competition. Winners will receive a unique, one-copy-only pair of SK8-HIs. All visitors will each also receive VANS logo stickers.
