"Nihonga in Full Bloom" Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Yamatane Museum of Art
Media: Painting
Love for the beauty of flowers has been always shared by all people. Especially in Japan, where the four seasons are very distinct and thus a variety of flowers blossom at various times of the year, our sensibility for nature and flowers has been applied to decor designs for furnishings and costumes. In the world of nihonga, in particular, countless painters have projected their feelings on their canvases on the themes of "the beauties of nature (flowers, birds, winds and the moon)" and "seasonal beauties in Japan (snow, the moon and flowers)". This exhibition explores different expressions and methods with which each nihonga artist portrayed the beauty and allure of flowers through about 50 works, most of which depicted flowers of spring and summer.
Please experience fragrant blossoms brought together by an observant eye and sensibilities of nihonga painters.
