"Pictureless Picture Books and Impromptu Poet - Andersen's Kingdom of Denmark" Seminar
This event has ended.
"The Little Mermaid," "The Snow Queen", "The Little Matchstick Girl," The Ugly Duckling", "Thumbelina" - these are just some of the 156 fairy tales bequeathed to posterity by Hans Christian Andersen, one of the world's most beloved storytellers. His fictional worlds are at once beautiful, sorrowful, heartrending and humorous, a reflection of the impoverished and tumultuous circumstances that Andersen grew up in.
As special guest to this event we are pleased to welcome Mitsuo Yasuno, who himself read Andersen's account of his travels in Italy, "Impromptu Poet", which inspired his own work, "Emoto Impromptu Poet". Together with Chieko Suemori, he will talk about the unique charm and appeal of Andersen's work.
In Japanese only. For reservations, please see website.
