This exhibition was initially planned to coincide with philosopher Antonio Negri's visit to Japan. The title of the exhibition is "Vivid Material," featuring five young artists. In keeping with Negri's call for art to assume a role in stimulating latent potential, this is an occasion to question whether or not artists living in Japan at the moment are making progressive, evolutionary use of materials. Although Negri's visit was unfortunately cancelled, this exhibition nonetheless hopes to mobilize a small "multitude" in his absence with a view to realizing this catalytic aspiration and effecting a sort of release in the world.
