Works from the museum's collection will be on display, with 4 different themes.

.The Origin of Light: Centering on work by Yuichi Takahashi, this exhibition explores how modern Japanese yoga painters visualized light on their canvases, while also examining issues of backlighting and haloes by comparing and contrasting outdoor and indoor views.

."The Gospel of Light/ The Flickering of the Retina": Displaying 3 works by Natsuyuki Nakanishi, this exhibition provides a visual experience where a plant-like retinal network twines together and then unravels again. Works by Masato Kobayashi, filled with the virtuous gospel of light, are on view also.

."The Beauty of Vases": On view for the first time in the Western art and design section are posters by Gustav Klimt acquired in 2007 as part of the museum's collection. Also on display are books and crafts associated with the Viennese Secession and the Wiener Werkstatte.

."In the Greenery": Among the various artists associated with Utsunomiya, this exhibition picks up on Kan Yoneda and Masayuki Seki, displaying a group of their paintings that depict beautiful greenery.
