Jules Julien "Cadavres Exquis"
Diesel Denim Gallery Aoyama
This event has ended.
Tokyo: the city where countless people keep on walking on the streets chaotically spread out in all directions. It is as if inerasable silhouettes have been incessantly drawn onto an ever-evolving catalog or multipurpose notebook. Jules Julien first breaks up photo images of models in fashion magazines into parts, and then composes out of them new forms and figures from his unique perspective. Through body parts that link apparel and wearer, he explores "joints" that lie on the boundaries between the interior and exterior of the human body, the individual and the collective, and ever-changing fashion movements and the transient nature of our lives.
Using a style pieced together by combining various types of fashion, Julien attempts to visualize "Tokyo today".
