"Captivating Kanban & Harigami Ads" Exhibition
Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum
This event has ended.
Eye-catching, beautiful and sometimes humorous kanban (signboards) and harigami (print advertisements) are everywhere around us. This exhibition introduces the history of kanban and harigami, highlighting in particular the signboards and banners from the late Edo period to the Showa 40's (1955-65). The works on display are based on archived materials collected by Rojo Kansatsu Gakkai (street observation group).
See the website for information on talk events and more.
