Chinatsu Ban draws cute elephants wearing briefs, butterflies, birds, girls and twins, apples in anthropomorphic form. Her vividly colored paintings favor children and girls as motifs transformed into curious and fascinating characters.

The living things in her paintings, although seemingly adorable, also conceal a certain uneasiness, melding organically into the carefully rendered surface of the canvas. The relationships between objects on her canvas seem to multiply and increase like cells dividing, and their forms change and mutate, blending into the plants that surround them in a sort of innocent frolic.
