The legendary film director Akira Kurosawa aspired to be a painter as a teenager, but eventually turned to filmmaking while pouring his creative energy into creating the storyboards that were an essential step in the production of his films. The depiction of his characters, as well as costumes, props, lighting and composition can all be found portrayed in exhaustive detail in these storyboards.

In addition to around 140 storyboards chosen from among the 2000 that Kurosawa produced over his lifetime, this exhibition also features 10 storyboards from the collection of Martin Scorsese.

Special screenings and lectures are also scheduled. See website for more details.
