This event has ended.

Gyoji Nomiyama boasts one of the longest-running Western-style painting careers in Japan. His distinctive style, with its vivid colors and bold brushwork, is light and dynamic, but with something mysterious hidden in its depths. This exhibition will explore its fascination by presenting the process by which, starting with his prewar work and then spending nearly twelve years in Europe after the war, Nomiyama gradually created his own singular vision. Included among the 90 paintings on display are recent and ambitious efforts to broaden his expressive range.
