This event has ended.

Exploring images of metamorphosis, possession and puppetry Kenichi Asano points to the possibility of new found strength through becoming something other than yourself. Here he presents a mask which gives access to another world, a “Figure of Strength”, combining the world of Noh with that of the cyborg in a fusion of ancient skill and the futuristic, filled with an eccentricity opposing the principles of wabi-sabi and Zen, while sharing something with otaku culture. This cyborg escapes the pressures of Japanese society and by rejecting all attempts to fix and define it becomes the embodiment of a logic beyond this world, through which we may carried to a distant land. Here in this exhibition organized by Hisashi Tenmyouya, Asano features the ancient new born god “Figure of Strength” alongside 5 other new works.
