Kojutsu AFT Classic
This event has ended.
The “Kojutsu” exhibition series has been held since 2010 and now comes to Art Fair Tokyo 2014. This event showcases techniques with a uniquely Japanese scrupulousness and dexterity and uncovers future possibilities for Japanese art.
The exhibition introduces the activities of artists seeking to harness craft techniques and transport themselves to ever greater heights through this discipline and culture. These artists have departed from the rest of contemporary art in order to create something wholly new.
This special “Kojutsu AFT Classic” exhibition explores what “kojutsu” means today. Aspiring to convey the singular nature of Japanese artistic expression to more people, the works of several artists including those of Haruo Mitsuta and Katsushiro Isobe will be exhibited at the fair so that visitors can sense this resolutely “Japanese” sublimity of skill and precision, as well as the stories that exist there.
Artists: Arugaseiji, Ishikawa Yusuke, Katsushiro Isobe, Hideki Kuwashima, Kaori Kodama, Kousuke Sato, Yu, Haruo Mitsuta, et al.
