Kazumasa Izuno + Takashi Sakai “Indigene”

Paku Paku An

This event has ended.

Kazumasa Izuno creates ceramics in a single room of an Azabu Juban condo. The remarkable works his urban lifestyle produces have an antiquated quality created through a process of repeated glazing and firing, resulting in colors resembling burnt earth and textures suggesting an age beyond their years.Takashi Sakai’s startlingly precise, implacable drawings make the viewer think of a musician. Although he depicts common motifs such as Japanese houses, flowers, plants, and women, the extreme atmospheric nature of his work seems to call one into other worlds. New works by both artists offers glimpses of a certain contemporary “Japaneseness,” evoking the country’s climate, textures, and viscid soil.
