poster for A Map to the Mind of Shinta Cho

This event has ended.

Up until his death in 2005 Shinta Cho worked across a myriad of create fields as a manga artist, illustrator, essayist and picture book artist. Amongst his wide range of work it was his humorous, nonsensical picture books which carved out a new territory within this genre in postwar Japan. On this occasion marking 10 years since his death this exhibition draws together 130 examples of his work across 10 themes and attempts to open a glimpse into the fantastical mind of this artistic figure.
