Eitoeiko is pleased to announce an exhibition “Dionapollinisch” by Yuki Hashimoto. Hashimoto studied printmaking at Musashino Art University in Tokyo. After receiving his BA, he studied ceramics at Tama Art University in Tokyo and received his BA. Hashimoto handles various materials to create his artworks. At the exhibition, the artist formulates the word “Dionapollinisch” by compounding two words, Dionysisch and Apollinisch, both concepts by Nietzsche. They contrast well, but the artist indicates that the two concepts circulate in a single situation. Hashimoto attempts to find the borders in the gradation of meanings. With help of Butoh as a mediation, Hashimoto makes the Butoh dancer a demigod and creates a kind of mask as a symbol of unification.
