Norio Awazu was a scholar of a wide range of fields including art, literature, and music, specializing in Japan and France. His scholarship of artists and writers such as Paul Klee, Franz Kafka, Shiki Masaoka, Sakutaro Hagiwara, and Hideo Kobayashi is famous. In 2014 he gifted the Nerima Art Museum with approximately 100 works that had hung in his study by Odilon Redon, Georges Renault, Tetsuro Komai, Hitoshi Karasawa, Hiroshi Asada, Masuo Ikeda, and other artists. This exhibition marking the 10th anniversary of the publication of “The Works of Norio Awazu” presents 50 of the donated works. Peer into the perspective, expression, and philosophy of this scholar through some of the artworks he loved best.
