This event has ended.

As an abstract painter, Kiyoshi Hamada has been seeking a new style of painting for more than fifty years, imbuing his works with an overwhelming sense of life. Hamada creates his paintings through enormously time-consuming and repetitive work, such as repeatedly painting small dots on huge canvases and carving patterns over and over again into wooden boards. These procedures are as if, in his own words, he is “offering endless prayers.” This exhibition shows around thirty works from his early period to the present.
