This event has ended.

Realist painting involves an artist precisely rendering a scene on a single page or sheet of canvas over the course of sometimes hours or days. Once every three years the Hoki Museum, Japan’s first museum dedicated to realist painting, hosts the Hoki Museum Award (formerly the Masao Hoki Award) aimed at discovering new talent in the field. For the 2nd Hoki Awards in 2016, Grand Prize goes to Yuna Tsuru for “Nagare Todomori Uzumaki Kieru” (Flowing Banks, Billow and Vanish) and the Runner-up Prize to Yuji Goto for “Gasutanku no aru Keshiki” (Landscape with a Gas Tank).
