Mingei, often translated as folk art movement, advocated the “wisdom of life” and “tradition of mind,” expressing beliefs through a unique aesthetic sense and approach to craft. This exhibition focuses on the Edo era (1603-1868), considered the golden age of folk art in Japan, and showcases approximately 200 carefully selected items from the collection, including ceramics, textiles, dyed materials, woodwork, furniture, metalwork and so on.
