This event has ended.

Hiroki Nishitake’s project titled “Stripper” started in Nakanojo, Gunma Prefecture and features sculptures made using the earth as a mold. He produces latex stencils based on living things to leave graffiti-like tags in various places, such as walls and roads where the malleable latex shape can itself around uneven surfaces. Once the stencils are removed, the expressions left behind stand out at first, though over time they begin to blend with the surface, becoming part of the scenery. See a selection of these works presented here.

After graduating from the Department of Sculpture at Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts, Hiroki Nishitake (b. 1984-) attended a Master’s program at Tokyo National University of the Arts and received a Salon de Plantain Award. He has also participated in international art events such as Estuaire biennale in Nantes, France and Aichi Triennale 2013.
