poster for Munch - A Retrospective

This event has ended.

Edvard Munch (1863-1944) is one of the great modern painters and creator of The Scream, one of the world’s best-known paintings. This large Munch retrospective will feature some 100 works primarily from the Munch Museum in Norway’s capital and the artist’s hometown, Oslo. Included will be some 60 oil paintings along with prints and other works. As a special highlight, the tempera and oil version of The Scream now in the Munch Museum collection- one of several versions by Munch- will make its long-awaited first Japan appearance. Through important works giving forceful expression to facets of human existence, love, despair, jealousy, and loneliness, as well as beautiful paintings of Norway’s natural landscapes and late-period works rendered in bright colors, the exhibition will trace Munch’s 60-plus years career.
