The Terada Collection at Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery was donated by Kotaro Terada (1927–2018), who worked at the Tokyo Opera City building. The collection contains some 3,700 artworks including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and prints, with a focus on postwar Japanese art. Among the works are around 600 pieces by the father and son artists Tatsuoki and Fumio Nambata. This unique collection raises questions about what it means to be Japanese and what it means human, and it contains many works by then-young artists who examined the shifting values and social conditions of their times.
