Yuji Sugiyama “Individual Projection”

The White

poster for Yuji Sugiyama “Individual Projection”

Starts tomorrow

“Individual Projection” is a series that has been continuously photographed by Sugiyama since 2015. It mainly consists of “the portrait of a person making a fire” on the riverside near Tokyo. Last year, his exhibition of the same title displayed portraits with texts and archived photos that mixed fiction and reality. In this exhibition, the concept will be deepened, and the new portrait will be installed with new elements. As the saying goes, “Fact is stranger than fiction.” The real world is multifaceted and multilayered. And the information that represents that reality is always from someone’s point of view, and there is no single truth. It is hoped that the imaginative world created by the viewer facing the portrait and the layers created by the mixed text of fiction and reality will interact and become a place where multiple times, spaces, and memories can be exchanged. It is meant to offer criticisms of the real world and media.
