Takehiko Nakafuji “Hong Kong 2019”
Zen Foto Gallery
This event has ended.
In 2019, Nakafuji had the opportunity to visit Hong Kong several times as he participated in an exhibition at Tai Kwun Contemporary. It was exactly when the democratization protests were reaching their peak so Nakafuji couldn’t stop himself from walking out with a camera in my hands to the pulsing streets of Hong Kong. Large crowds of all ages and gender marching and chanting for freedom, fierce battles between young people and the police, and shining smartphone lights held by the uninterrupted flow of people in the dark — Other than these overwhelming and unforgettable scenes from the protests, Nakafuji also took photos of the daily life of people in Hong Kong that continued side by side with the movement. This exhibition will include approximately 30 photographs by Nakafuji in black in white.
