SYP Gallery

Gallery in The Ichigaya, Kagurazaka area

poster for SYP Gallery

S.Y. P Art Space, created in 2014 by artist Shotaro Yoshino, will be reborn in April 2020 under the name SYP GALLERY.
Shotaro Yoshino (artist), Javier Casas (architect), and Yu Harada (gallerist) will run this new entity.
S.Y. P functioned as an artist-run-space when these were still few and far apart. It provided a “place” for people from various backgrounds to share pleasing experiences freely through the presentation of artworks, activity reports, and yet to be realized projects.

Alternative and artist-run spaces have become more prevalent in recent years. Thus we three believe in the need for the programmatic power of a commercial gallery to be coupled with the artist-run space capacity to accompany artists in their quest for independence. That is the reason why we have decided to adopt the form of a gallery.

We believe in the synergy born from our three different personalities and fields of activity to promote new values and diversity in contemporary art.
