Samiro Yunoki
Samiro Yunoki, who will turn 100 this fall, continues to work daily as if "making" is a part of his life. Since turning 80, Yunoki’s work has been introduced to the world and exhibited abroad. He has also had a face as an educator, participating in the establishment of the Crafts Department of Joshibi University of Art and Design, which celebrates its 73rd anniversary this year. His unique teaching style has endeared him to many graduates. This exhibition focuses not only on Samiro Yunoki's "creation" but also on his "education" at "Joshibi Crafts," and attempts to present a variety of topics that are rarely discussed, such as Yunoki's specialty techniques of "chusen" and "katagami bousen," and his persistence in using materials. The exhibition will be held at the Joshibi Gallery of Art for Women, where Yunoki's work has always been exhibited together with his students, showing the appeal of his work.
