100th Anniversary - Koshiji Fubuki

Waseda University Theatre Museum
Finished
Fubuki Koshiji (1924-1980) rose to prominence as a leading male role in the post-war Takarazuka Revue. Even after leaving the troupe, they continued to appear in musicals like "Applause" and films, establishing themselves as an actress and singer, contributing to the establishment of Japanese-language musicals and chansons.

Inspired by a trip to France in 1953, particularly by Parisian stage and fashion, their obsession with costumes, notably evident in later "long recitals" where they effortlessly carried Yves Saint Laurent haute couture dresses, became a source of admiration and added further brilliance to their performances.

Commemorating Koshiji's 100th birthday, this exhibition traces their journey through stage costumes, accessories, posters, and more, highlighting their dedication to style.

First Phase: April 25th to June 18th, Second Phase: June 20th to August 4th.
