Kiyoshi Yamashita
2022 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kiyoshi Yamashita (1922-1971). Yamashita was known as a wandering genius painter who captured the hearts of many people by depicting nostalgic Japanese landscapes in his pasteboard paintings.

This exhibition traces the life of Kiyoshi Yamashita, who continued his creative activities until his death at the age of 49, through a variety of works, including pencil drawings from his childhood, pastel paintings inspired by his wanderings throughout Japan, oil paintings, ceramics, and pen drawings.

Although Kiyoshi Yamashita is widely known through TV dramas and movies, this exhibition introduces the true nature of his sensitive and naive personality and his sincere efforts as an artist.
