The "Extreme Cold Art Festival" is held annually from February 2 to March 3. Overseas artists from France, Mexico, Taiwan, and other countries also participate in the festival, along with many domestic contemporary artists who are active overseas. More than 40 works can be viewed from dawn to 9:00 p.m.

In the evening, red lamps are lit in the forest and a bonfire in the Fire Hut welcomes visitors. When the temperature exceeds minus 15 degrees Celsius (the onset of extreme cold), steam rising from the onsen river freezes in mid-air, creating diamond dust. The harmony of the natural beauty and artwork seen in the Yugen no Mori can only be experienced during the extremely cold season. This is an international art experiment that asks what artists can create in response to the unique and special "extreme cold landscapes" of each location.
