On March 3, 353, Wang Xizhi invited distinguished guests to a purification ceremony at the scenic Orchid Pavilion at the foot of Mount Xianglu. Together with "Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Gathering," which was drafted by Wang Xizhi as a preface to the collection of poems written at the gathering, the historical events of "Gathering at the Orchid Pavilion" became a model of elegant collections and became a favorite of literary figures in East Asia in later generations.
On the 150th anniversary of the Tokyo National Museum and the 50th anniversary of normalizing diplomatic relations between Japan and China, the exhibition will present the literati culture that runs throughout Japan and China.
