Nobara Hayakawa
Colombian born artist Nobara Hayakawa first came to Tokyo in 2000 as a Monbusho scholar and has since earned her Master’s in Visual Communication from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. In 2003 won the Spiral Curator's Price for the collaboration project Hide 'N Seek at the 4th Spiral Independent creators Festival, SICF. In 2004 her video "Patterns" was screened at the Syracuse International Film and Video Festival. She also organized an event and group show at Idee-R, and had a joint show at Gallery Saka, Roppongi.
This exhibition features works made during her 5 years of stay in Japan, with a wide range of techniques, from collage to video, where she combines clean designs with emotional subjects, and comments on issues of culture and identity.
