The Kimura Ihei Photography Award (sponsored by Asahi Newspaper) was established in 1975 as a recognition of Kimura's contribution to Japanese photography. Every year, awards are given to selected up-and-coming photographers.
The winners are the leading photographers who cultivate the new artistic expression and the era. By looking back at the history of the Award, we can understand the history of Japanese photography and even foresee the near future.
