World Press Photo 2005

Tokyo Photographic Art Museum
Finished
Every year this photojournalism contest is held for professionals from all over the world. The photo of an indian woman crying her lost parents after the tsunami in Sumatra won the Grand Prize of this 48th edition. 4266 photographs were submitted, many works dealing with topics such as the Beslan Hostage Tragedy in North Ossetia, the re-election of Bush and the war in Iraq; as many events covered by those photographers, sometimes risking their own life for the sole purpose of revealing them to the rest of us.
