Artists

Sasaki Keisei
Sasaki Keisei states that there is not much meaning to the choice of his subjects. For example in this exhibition, there is a picture of some enormous shoes. Sasaki chose to paint the shoes because he became interested in buying them while flipping through a magazine. On other occasions, he painted meat because he really wanted to eat some and painted a flower vase in the middle of packing for moving flat.
However, his paintings make the viewers believe that there are reasons for painting those subjects. In other words, the artist does not put much emphasis on the choice, but rather on the very action of painting those subjects. He paints scenes of his life one after another, like eyes flipping through random articles in a magazine. The chosen subjects are deformed and exaggerated and become unique and independent of a specific meaning.
