Satoshi Nakata
Satoshi Nakata was born in 1962 and completed his graduate studies at the Tama Art University in 1989. Since then he has been exhibiting domestically and internationally. Memories of a strange, atmospheric world are expressed through his red, yellow and green canvases. He uses many materials, such as old pieces of wood, metal sheets, train tickets, labels, brochures that he collected from trips, packing tape and so on. He composes these items to create paintings and sculptures painted with house paint.

The title of this exhibition is "Akaki" meaning "red & yellow." The works carry strange and yet familiar feelings that are naturally communicated through the colors he choses. Included works are 10 two-dimensional pieces centered around a large scale painting consisting of oil paint and pastel crayons on color copied paper, as well as small sculptures. This is his first exhibition at this gallery.
