Hideki Ohtsuki "Blank between Clouds"

Loophole
Finished

Artists

Hideki Ohtsuki
When you look to the sky, electric poles often interrupt the view. Theses poles are the first things constructed when building a house, and they remain even after an old building gets destroyed. What resides in this situation is a sense of frozen time. In Hideki Ohtsuka's paintings, the perspective is ambiguous, as if the horizontal lines stretching out of the electric poles have nothing to do with gravity. They suggest the intensified boundaries between beginning and end, vertical and horizontal, and interior and exterior. Through this ambiguity, Ohtsuka challenges the traditions of painting.
