Artists

Thanh Chuong
During the French colonial period in Vietnam, traditional lacquer craft and western painting fused and became an unique painting genre, lacquer painting. While many artists still paint with this style today, this artist has gained critical acclaim for creating an unique, richly poetic world. Many paintings depict memories of a peaceful childhood as he played amongst water buffalo and dreamed of becoming an artist. His paintings are also infused with a prayer for peace as much of his adolescence was actually spent during the war. This will be his second solo exhibition at this venue since 2004, and 20 new works will be on display.
