Michel Ocelot
Michel Ocelot's "Azur et Asmar" will be the second film distributed by Studio Ghibli. In preparation for the July 21st release of the film, Studio Ghibli is holding an exhibition to introduce viewers to the colorful world of director Michel Ocelot. There will also be a screening of the film's preview.

"Azur et Asmar" uses 3DCG, but does not follow the current trend of pursuing realistic depiction of material and light nor use 3D camerawork. The pictorial style is 2-dimensional and extremely graphical, and succeeds in vividly depicting two contrasting objects. These two are at times the two protagonists, the European and Islamic cultures, and even the contrasting happy and sad emotions of the characters. Another characteristic is the restrained camerawork that continuously films the characters and their surroundings from a point of view one step back. The technique differs from one in which the camera position urges emotional involvement with the characters. The style creates the sense of watching a stage performance or a bundled up picture scroll.
